Annunciations
Recurring theme of the painting from the middle-ages to the XXI century, the
annunciation is for me the expression of all the paradoxes of creation:
virginity and childbirth, desire and restraint, creation and emptiness, movement
and whiteness. It is a theme I carry deep inside of me since my childhood, first
as a passionate visitor of museums then as a creator. The annunciations, like so
many other themes, are a path to the pure essence of painting... my
annunciations are built on forms more or less evocative of the angel and the
Virgin and especially an invisible central movement as absent! The verb? The
spirit? The essence of the painting?
Curious
thing about me, before jumping into this theme, I took the time to take note
on my motivations (available on the French page) as well as making several
sketches from paintings of the Italian Renaissance.
